Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 21

Check out our list of government offices that are closed, to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 

Tuesday, Jan. 22

Kindergarten Registration: 1 to 3 p.m. Families can register their children at Buchanan-Verplanck, Furnace Wood or Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School for the 2013-2014 school year. A registration packet and contact information for individual schools can be found on the Hendrick Hudson School District website.

Aroma Fitness: 6:30 p.m. This fitness class blends essential oils with meditation, breathing exercises and stretching. Barbara Smith teaches the six-week course. There is a $15 material fee and space is limited. To register, call the Hendrick Hudson Free Library at 914-739-5654 or visit the library at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Croton-Harmon Board of Education Budget Workshop: 7:30 p.m. This meeting is a workshop to discuss the upcoming budget. The meeting takes place in the Croton-Harmon High School community room at 36 Old Post Road S., Croton.

Cortlandt Town Board Meeting: 7:30 p.m. This is a regular legislative meeting of the Cortlandt Town Board. A portion of this meeting is dedicated to public comment. The meeting takes place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Croton Board of Trustees Meeting:  8 p.m. The Croton Board of Trustees meets for a regular legislative meeting. A portion of this meeting is dedicated to public comment. The meeting takes place at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton.

Croton Planning Board Meeting: 8 p.m. The Croton Planning Board meets to discuss current development in the village. The meeting takes place at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton.

Wednesday, Jan. 23

Hendrick Hudson Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. This is a regular legislative meeting of the Hendrick Hudson Board of Education. A portion of the meeting is dedicated to public comment. The meeting is in the Hendrick Hudson High School library at 2166 Albany Post Road, Montrose.

Thursday, Jan. 24

Town of Cortlandt Blood Drive: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The blood drive takes place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor, in the Vincent F. Nyberg Meeting Room. Participants should be between 16 and 76 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and bring photo identification. Any medical questions should be directed to 800-688-0900.

Matinee Movie: 1:30 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library shows "The Queen of Versailles" (PG-13), which depicts the American dream inflated to ridiculous extremes. The library is at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Eagle Monitoring at Verplanck Dock: 3 to 5 p.m. Continuing Thursdays in January and February, join members of the Sawmill River Audubon at the Verplanck Dock, at 2 Riverview Ave., Verplanck as we monitor bald eagles coming to roost across the river at Stony Point and downriver on the north side of Georges Island.
