Monday, Jan. 7

Cortlandt Town Board Work Session: 7 p.m. The board meets to discuss current events in the town. This meeting is open to the public, but there is not a portion dedicated to public comment. The meeting is at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor. 

Croton Board of Trustees: 8 p.m. The board has a regular legislative meeting. The meeting takes place at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton.

Tuesday, Jan. 8

Aroma Fitness: 6:30 p.m. This unique fitness class blends essential oils with meditation, breathing exercises and stretching. Barbara Smith teaches the six-week course. There is a $15 material fee and space is limited. To register, call the Hendrick Hudson Free Library at 914-739-5654 or visit the library at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

Family Wellness Workshop: 2-3 p.m. This free class is open to caregivers of loved ones with chronic illness and is at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center's Dempsey House, 1992 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor. Participants must register for the class by calling 914-737-9000.

Protecting Children From Environmental Toxins: 3-4:30 p.m. This lecture is at the Cedarwood Hall Auditorium, Westchester Institute of Human Development, at Westchester Medical Center. There is no charge to attend, but registration is required. To register, email Janineb@cccwny.org or call the Child Care Council at 914-761-3456 ext. 100.

Hendrick Hudson Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The board will have a regular legislative meeting in the Hendrick Hudson High School library, 2166 Albany Post Road, Montrose. 

Thursday, Jan. 10

Matinee Movie: 1:30 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library presents "Your Sister's Sister," a romantic comedy starring Emily Blunt. The library is at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. All movies are free.

Eagle Monitoring at Verplanck Dock: 3-5 p.m. Continuing Thursdays in January and February, join Sawmill River Audubon Volunteers at the Verplanck Dock, at 2 Riverview Ave., Verplanck as they monitor bald eagles coming to roost across the river at Stony Point and downriver on the north side of Georges Island. Spotting scopes are available, although binoculars are helpful. Dress warmly. Monitoring begins 90 minutes before sunset until full dark.

Live Animal Program by Animal Ambassadors: 7-8:30 p.m. Join Animal Embassy and incredible live Animal Ambassadors for this interactive, educational and entertaining presentation. Participants will meet a variety of animals from around the world. This program is suitable for children 4 years old and up and adults. The program takes place at the Ossining Community Center, 95 Broadway, Ossining. To reserve spaces, email office@sawmillriveraudubon.org.
