CORTLANDT, N.Y. - This weekend is packed with classic fall events, including two homecoming football games, a fall festival at Hilltop Farms. Friday, Oct. 12
Flow Circus Presents "Read Yourself Silly" 7 p.m. Off-Broadway entertainer Paul Miller shows off his circus skills in his performance of “Read Yourself Silly.” In this story, Paul tells how a trip to the circus inspired him to visit his library to learn more about juggling – which led to the discovery of balloon sculpting, magic and the history of the circus. This performance takes place at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton.
Founders Tap Takeover 6 - 9 p.m. The Green Growler Grocery invites this Grand Rapids, Mich. brewery to take over their taps and bring in a variety of their beers for tasting. The Green Growler is located at 368 S. Riverside Ave., Croton.
Saturday, Oct. 13
Second Saturday Walk at Brinton Brook 9 a.m. This walk through Sawmill River Audubon's largest bird sanctuary doesn't require registration, is free, and is held regardless of weather. Walkers are invited to meet in the main parking lot, the walk is recommended for ages 6 and up. The sanctuary is located on Route 9a, meet in the main parking lot.
11th Annual Daffodil Planting 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. This daffodil planting honors the victims of 9/11, and takes place at the Duck Pond in Croton, off of Bungalow Road and South Riverside Avenue. This event is free.
Halloween Story Time 10 a.m. Costumed actors read Halloween stories, and refreshments, music, arts and crafts will be provided free by the Cortlandt School of the Performing Arts. This event is recommended for children ages 2 to 6-years-old. The school is located at 24 Old Albany Post Road, Croton.
Hilltop Farms Fall Festival 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Live entertainment, face painting, pumpkin painting and a corn maze will be at Hilltop Farm, located at 2028 Albany Post Road, Croton-on-Hudson. This event is free.
Hendrick Hudson Homecoming Game 5 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson High School Sailors football team takes on the Yonkers High School Bulldogs for Hen Hud's homecoming game. This event is free, and takes place at Hendrick Hudson High School, 2166 Albany Post Road, Montrose.
Croton-Harmon Homecoming Game 1:30 p.m. The Croton-Harmon High School Tigers take on Thornwood's Westlake High School Wildcats. This event is free and takes place at Croton-Harmon High School, 36 Old Post Road S., Croton.
Sunday, Oct. 14
Archeology Day 4 p.m. This day at Croton Point Park's Nature Center is dedicated to flint knapping, artifact identification and brick making, and is sponsored by the Lower Hudson Chapter of the New York State Archaeological Association. Croton Point Park is located on Croton Point Avenue in Croton, parking fees may be associated with this event.
Compass Relay Compass Relay 10 a.m. Bring the whole family and learn the basics of using a compass with fun games and play, this program is for families with children 7 and older. Registration is strongly recommended; call Teatown Lake Reservation at 914-762-2912 ext. 110. This event is free for members, and $5 per person for non-members. Teatown is located at 1600 Spring Valley Road, Ossining.
Tag Sale to benefit the Taghkanic Chorale 10 a.m. This group tag sale takes place rain or shine at the Lois Professional Building, 691 E. Main St., Jefferson Valley.
