“Over the past six years, a priority of our town budgets was to provide support for the most needy in our community," said Former First Selectman Gayle Weinstein. "I am very concerned that the current First Selectman has asked for a reduction of twenty percent of the community grants budget. She has also publicly stated that she will not support funding for certain nonprofits in the future, and that her priority is to fund the Weston Historical Society, of which she is an executive board member."

The campaign committee was formed to raise money for the Weston Democratic Selectmen's slate.

“As Democrats, we believe it is incumbent on government to help those that are most vulnerable in our society," said Selectman Chris Spaulding.

Homes With Hope, The Weston Food Pantry, Weston Warm Up fund and Weston Social Services each received a check for $500.

“I know our donors will be very happy with our decision to support organizations that provide the social net for those who need it,” said David Muller, treasurer of the campaign.
