Pace University President Will Share Views At Business Council Series

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Pace University President Stephen Friedman will be among the speakers at the KeyBank Speaker Series featuring Leaders in Higher Education.

The speakers will deliver their talk at the event on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8 a.m. It will be held at Abigail Kirsch at Tappan Hill Mansion, 81 Highland Ave., Tarrytown and is hosted by The Business Council of Westchester.

Joining Friedman will be Belinda Miles, PhD., President of Westchester Community College; Michael J. Smith, President of Berkley College; and Jon Strauss, PhD., President of Manhattanville College.

Friedman became the seventh president of Pace University in 2007. As president of Pace, he has presided over a substantial increase in core enrollment while sustaining the university’s historic commitment to providing access for students from all economic backgrounds.

Under his leadership, Pace has established an increasing number of new academic programs, placed greater emphasis on study abroad and other international experiences for students, launched an ongoing revitalization of the major campuses in New York and Pleasantville, and built a solid financial foundation for advancing Pace’s mission. He previously served for three years as Dean of the Pace University Law School.

Prior to being named president, he served for three years as Dean of Pace University School of Law.

As part of the event, Friedman and the other school leaders will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing institutions of higher learning including creating curriculums to properly train the workforce of the future. The discussion will be moderated by Geoff Thompson, managing partner of Thompson & Bender.
