Greens Farms Boys Stop Masters

Playing without leading scorer Dan Chase, Greens Farms Academy bounced back from its first loss in over a month to defeat Masters, 57-48, in a Fairchester Athletic Association boys basketball game Monday night.

Chase, averaging 21.5 points a game, missed the contest with an illness. The Dragons (11-4 overall, 6-4 FAA) responded with terrific ball movements and a balanced attack. GFA recorded a season-high 18 assists. Sean Obi scored 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead GFA. Masters fell to 5-7, 3-5.

Christian Papic scored 14 points on 4-of-6 six shooting from the field, and Brien Comey added 10 for GFA. Point guards Eric Walsh and C.J. Smith were brilliant, finding the open players despite Masters' continual defensive changes.

Hunter Eggers was the heart of the tenacious GFA defense. Playing the entire second half without a break, Eggers completely disrupted Masters' ability to run their offensive sets. Captain Chris Morency led a wave of seamless contributions from the GFA bench. Will Pavlis, Kam Mickens and Wills Rooney all brought suffocating ball pressure on defense and were silky smooth in their offensive executions.

GFA bounced back after having its eight-game winning streak stopped Saturday at Hopkins. The Dragons return to the court Wednesday at Hamden Hall.
