CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Hudson Stage Company will present a performance of "Exit Cuckoo" by Lisa Ramirez at the Croton Free Library on Saturday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m.
The library is at 161 Cleveland Drive.
The performance is free to the public and will include a Q&A with Ramirez immediately after the performance.
"Exit Cuckoo" is about women, the choices they make, the competing pressures they are subject to and the defining effect this has on how children are raised. The play is a collage of mothers, nannies and caretakers and the complex chemistry among them.
Originally from San Francisco, Ramirez performed at many Bay Area theaters, including the Magic Theatre, and received Best Actress Awards from the Bay Area Critics Circle.
In New York, she has performed at the HERE Arts Center, the Ontological-Hysteric Theatre and New York Theatre Workshop, where she was a playwright-in-residence.
Her new play, "Pas De Deux," was seen as part of the Mentor Project 15 at Cherry Lane Theatre, which this fall will be producing the world premiere of her play "To The Bone," directed by Lisa Peterson.
