Croton's Bennett Conservatory Of Music Celebrates 65 Years

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bennett Conservatory of Music in Croton-on-Hudson recently celebrated its 65th anniversary and retirement of the school's director at its spring concert.

Mayor Leo Wiegman declared June 14-21 as Else Bennett and the Bennett Conservatory Week in Croton, according to a press release.

Bennett has directed the school for over 32 years, and is retiring from the position.

Jane Parkhouse, an experienced violin and viola teacher, will step into Bennett’s role.

The spring concert, held June 14, featured performances from students between the ages of 6 and 17.

After the concert, an anniversary and retirement celebration picnic was held on the school’s lawn.

Bennett, who is also an artist, was also honored with a gift of free painting classes.

Attendees were also able to view some of her paintings, including one of a Hudson River scene.
