Walsh is a 15-year veteran of education law, working in various capacities all over the area. Her advocacy covers special education, emotional disabilities, student bullying and harassment, along with touching on Common Core's impact on students across the state.

“I am honored to receive this distinction and proud to be associated with Westchester Jewish Community Services, which provides incredible community supports for individuals with disabilities. I applaud the work of the POINT Program and the Compass Project in providing much-needed transition services for young adults with disabilities,” Walsh said in a statement. Westchester Jewish Community Services is based in White Plains.

She is a co-chair of the new Lower Hudson Special Education Task Force of New York State and is certified by Youth Mental Health First Aid USA as well.

“We are extremely proud of Marion and her accomplishments in the special education community. She is well-deserving of this honor,” Littman Krooks' founding partner Bernard A. Krooks added.

Walsh will be honored at the Swing for Independence event, which benefits the POINT Program and The Compass Project, on June 15 at the Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison.
