Maria Slippen

Community Advisor

Maria Slippen is the communications specialist for the Pelham Public School District. In this role she manages all communications for the school district and is the conduit for information between the Pelham Schools, including the Superintendent’s office, and the community. Maria is a nationally recognized communications expert with nearly 20 years of experience in creating and implementing strategic communications plans with a design toward maximizing results. She started her career at the international PR firm Hill & Knowlton. She was named Director of Corporate Communications at Valhalla-based USI Holdings when the company moved to Westchester in 2003 and later left to start her own firm, MFS Consulting where she was able to take a more broad approach to analyzing outreach efforts to maximize ROI. She also served as a director at Rainmaker Advisory, a West Coast consultancy.Maria served as a Village Trustee in Croton on Hudson, New York from 2014-2016. She currently serves on the Cortlandt Master Plan Implementation Committee and is active in many Croton organizations including AYSO, Girl Scouts, The Croton Arboretum, and Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School and Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School PTAs. She previously served on the Cortlandt Master Planning Committee, and held board positions on the Croton-Harmon Education Foundation (CHEF) and the Croton Caring Committee. She is a 12-year resident of Westchester along with her husband and two daughters. Maria holds a BA in English from Fairfield University.
