"I’m very excited, and very happy the money will go to Calvary Hospital,'' DeCicco said. "It’s a good hospital and I’m proud to support it. They take care of patients nicely there. They are hard working people at the hospital.”

DeCicco bought his first business in 1967 and in 1973, bought his first grocery store along with his brother, John. He established his first supermarket in 1977 with his brothers Joe and John. Frank and his children now operate five DeCicco Family Markets in Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties.

DeCicco has been active in many communities. He has been vice president of the Scarsdale Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Scarsdale Rotary and served for two years as president of the Eastchester/Tuckahoe Chamber of Commerce. He and his brothers were honored by the Pelham Chamber of Commerce as the Businessmen of the Year in 1989.

DeCicco Family Markets has been named one of the top 50 privately held companies for two years in a row. Their merchandising skills have been widely acknowledged in the industry, and the business has been a supporter of schools, sports teams and community service projects where the stores are located.

He was also named the Businessman of the Year in 2007 by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, and DeCicco Family Markets received the Good Samaritan Hospital Medal of Honor in 2008.

DeCicco has been an active member of the Catholic Institute of the Food Industry for more than 25 years. He served as president in 1995 and has also served on the Institute’s board. His son, also named Frank, is currently the Institute's president. "That makes it more personal for me,'' DeCicco said. "It’s very emotional. To be among very important people. I never thought I’d be standing in front of these people and giving a speech."

The Institute was formed in 1946 to unite in fellowship all Catholics regularly employed in the food industry, and has donated to many worthwhile programs.

DeCicco and his wife, Nancy, reside in New City in Rockland County.
