Dozens of volunteers, including a team from the Cortlandt Kohl’s department store, are expected to participate in a number of projects to get the garden ready for its second year of planting.
“We are adding a medicinal garden and expanding the selection of herbs and vegetables,” said Hudson Valley Hospital Center President John Federspiel. “We thank Kohl’s Department Store and our garden volunteers for their commitment to our garden and hope members of the community will join us for our second annual volunteer day.’’
Volunteers are urged to bring gloves, shovels and trowels as a limited number of tools will be available for those who do not have them.
The Organic Garden for Healing is part of Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s Seeds for Health program. Produce from the garden is used to educate patients on the importance of nutrition at the hospital’s Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center.
