YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown residents now have a new place to go for healthcare.

AFC Urgent Care held a grand opening for its new Yorktown location at 3379 Crompond Road on Thursday. The new facility is being led by Dr. Rajesh Gupta, a 14-year Yorktown resident and emergency room doctor. Gupta purchased an AFC Urgent Care franchise last year.

"I am looking forward to being more involved with our patients, their families and our greater Yorktown community," Gupta said. "Developing relationships, building stronger ties with the community and serving a town where urgent care is not accessible are the main reasons I am doing this."

The center will have an onsite lab and X-Ray equipment and offer pre-employment exams, drug testing, breath alcohol tests, sports and school physicals, pre-surgical physicals and vaccinations.

Dr. Gupta also expressed a commitment to caring for the veterans in the community, accepting Tricare, the veterans health insurance plan.

Eric DiBartolo, president of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, said he was glad to have a new facility like this in Yorktown.

"This is so important to us," DiBartolo said. "Yorktown is growing and we are so excited that you jumped on board."

Councilman Vishnu Patel has been friends with the Guptas for years and said it was a wonderful thing to have in Yorktown.

"Yorktown residents will now be able to get a quality health care at a reasonable price," Patel said. "This is a great business and a big addition to Yorktown."

Om Gupta, Rajesh's father, led a prayer before the ribbon cut. A member of the Indian Air Force, he said he was going to steer his son into that field before his wife convinced Rajesh to go to medical school.

"The fact that he is helping people makes me very happy," Om said.

Shivam Gupta, Rajesh's son, said he is proud of his father for what he accomplished.

"His hard work is paying off," Shivam said. "My dad always wants to help people."
