A study suggest there is a relationship between major sporting events and the behavior of the stock market. The 2007 report showed that when a team lost in a widely watched tournament, the country's stock market often took a hit the following day, Market Watch reported.

Last year, the S&P 500 fell 1.5 percent during the NCAA Tournament, Market Watch said.
