The Somers shop owned by local residents Ginny and Ken Ryan is thriving after winning a couple of Westchester Magazine's award for Best Place To Frame Art and strong word of mouth that has built a large customer base encompassing all of Westchester County and some businesses from Connecticut and Massachusetts.

While it could surprise some that their customers travel hundreds of miles to the store at 253 Route 202 in Somers, Ginny Ryan said it helped here realize how valuable the business has become to its customers.

"They might have to do some traveling to get here, but they keep coming back and they're finding it worth it," Ginny Ryan said. "I think what most people don't realize is that people will travel a long way for good business if they believe they'll get a quality experience."

Ken Ryan, who helps do almost all of the framing himself, said customers are praising their attention to detail and high quality service.

"I think a lot of it is good customer service. We're always attentive to our customers because when it comes to framing there's a lot of guidance that's needed," he said. "They'll come in and think they know exactly how it works the best but they're not experts when it comes to framing so we'll work with them to show them what we think and find what is truly the best option for them. I think that's what makes them keep coming back to us."

Ken Ryan said the store always makes sure the customer comes first.

"Although it's rare, if a customer has a problem, we don't ask questions, we take care of it right away," he said. "We do whatever we can to make sure when they leave, they're happy with the experience and that they love the product."

Bonnie Saran, who owns three restaurants in Mount Kisco, said the Ryans know exactly how to treat a customer.

"I've been coming to them for years because I'm always very happy and you really can't find this kind of quality anywhere else around here," Saran said. "Ginny is always so on top of things and I never have to follow up with anything. They work at a super fast pace. And the quality of work is always very good and it's always really excellent service. I'm never going anywhere else and I'm always doing framing for my businesses."
