Run On Hudson Valley, located at 383 S. Riverside Ave. in Croton-on-Hudson, sells clothing, shoes, and other gear designed for runners and walkers.
The shop also hosts classes, events, group runs and training programs.
“Our larger goal is to help runners and walkers of all skill levels achieve their goals throughout their running career,” Drew said in a press release.
Drew spent a decade working at a bank. Outside his full-time job, he completed nine marathons and more half-marathons, 5k’s, and 10k’s than he can count.
“I’ve always wanted to own a small business,” Drew said.
“I love the idea of building something from the ground up and I’m always seeking new challenges.”
When a move made the prospect of continuing to commute to his banking job rather unpleasant, Drew was able to use a 401(k) rollover arrangement to fund his new business without taxation penalties.
“The best thing [about being a business owner] is being able to decide which direction to steer my business,” Drew said.
“I have the power to choose what to work on and when. Coming from a corporate environment, tasks were often thrust on me regardless of the greater benefit to the department I worked in. Now I decide what to do.”
