Retro Fitness will be opening a location at 3006 East Main Street in Cortlandt at the end of April, and according to Manager Adolfo Godinez, expect high-energy workouts with the amenities of a high-end gym.
The 12,500 square foot facility will feature group fitness, a smoothie bar, tanning and one-on-one personal training as well as a Cardio Movie Theater (more about that in a minute) -- all of this is a customer-centric, vibrant space.
"Customers become like family to me," said Godinez. "I get to know everyone's name."
Godinez said they are filling a void in Northern Westchester.
"The area needs a gym with a nice, fun atmosphere where you can have a judgment-free workout," he said. "We're over the top friendly."
The gym's motto is "We Get You."
At another Retro Fitness he managed, Godinez said he had clients from ages 12 to 92 and hopes to have the same at the Cortlandt location.
So far, so good. Retro Fitness' preview center has been open for three weeks and Godinez said they have received a positive response so far.
"It's going really well," Godinez said. "People want something new. They want a nice change of pace, something warm."
One of Retro Fitness' special features is a Cardio Movie Theater where customers can exercise in the dark while watching a movie.
"It's like being at the movie theater, just without the seats, popcorn and soda," Godinez said. "You get a good cardio workout while enjoying a movie. People who feel uncomfortable working out in the public eye enjoy it as do people who just want to zone out and enjoy a movie."
Along with all these amenities, Godinez said being involved in the community is another goal of the gym.
It's all about the guest experience. "I have binders full of testimonials of people thanking us for helping them to lose weight," he said. "It shows we care about them and are here to help them. It's a great feeling."
