CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Croton design firm Hudson Valley Graphic Design has created hundreds of brands for local businesses for the past 20 years, but this summer the team had the task of creating a logo and mascot for an old-fashioned ice cream stand.
Westchester residents can't miss the tiny standalone soft serve ice cream shop -- which has black cow spots and a bright pink awning -- as they drive by on Route 202 in Cortlandt Manor.
"Daily Moos is a fun, upbeat brand with lots of personality," said Janeen Violante, owner of Hudson Valley Graphic Design. "Our team enjoyed creating this unique nostalgic brand and we are proud of the outcome, especially the eye-catching design painted on the building by our own son."
Several months back, Daily Moos co-owners Frank Realbuto and Robert Cavone approached Hudson Valley Graphic Design with the intention of updating the brand for their other business, Daily Bagel Café. Off to the side of the building hosting the bagel cafe was a small former ice cream stand that was once a Carvel store.
The entrepreneurs had always dreamed of turning it back into an ice cream stand and calling it Daily Moos, to coordinate with Daily Bagel. This was the beginning of the project for the design firm, whose job was to create a sub-brand out of Daily Moos that would match Daily Bagel Café's new, rebranded look.
The branding project for the design team continues, as customers have the chance to help name the Daily Moos cow featured on the logo, through Facebook. Current suggestions include Mooreen, Sprinkes and PinkyLoo.
Hudson Valley Graphic Design is also managing Daily Moos' social media marketing, and customers can follow them on Facebook, for promotions and updates.
