Ray and Carol Arrucci chose Croton as the location of their dream music school after a nine-month search, according to a press release. Recently, The Music Depot at The Cortlandt School of Performing Arts opened to provide affordable instrument rentals.

“We have had steady growth here in Croton since we opened,” Ray Arrucci, owner and business manager, said in the release. “This is a wonderful community, and our location is perfect – easily accessible to communities north and south of here and close to Route 9.”

The school also has expanded sight-singing classes for students who are preparing for NYSSMA or adult singers who want to learn to read music. Family drumming classes also will begin in the spring. In addition, Broadway stars will travel to Croton next season to share advice and techniques about auditioning and to talk about what it’s like to be in the musical theater business.

Together, the Arruccis have produced musicals and are well-known for spearheading the “Westchester Teen Idol” competition, now in its 10th year at the Irvington Town Hall Theatre.

The Cortlandt School of Performing Arts offers private and group music instruction and unique programs, the release said. Ray Arrucci’s background is in theater acting, direction and retail business, while Carol Arrucci is a certified music teacher, conductor and musical director.
